#EasterFruitFriday - UNICEF @ London Marathon 2014

The capital city of England is none other than the home of Fruit for the Office, your London office fruit supplier...


Oh, it's also home to the London Marathon!


This year, Fruit For the Office were given the incredible opportunity to support UNICEF by donating boxes upon boxes of our famous office fruit (after it went on a strict training regimen to be up to scratch for the marathon, of course)

Shown live on BBC last weekend, all of us were glued to the TV to watch the London Marathon just to see Mo Farah work his hardest and run his fastest - all for Great Britain.

But, between cheering Mo Farah on from the comfort of Fruit for the Office HQ, we were keeping a keen eye out for those running the gruelling 26 mile course - in fetching blue vests, might we add - all to raise money for UNICEF.

Not only were there some amazing UNICEF-supporting humans at the London Marathon (including UNICEF staff member, Claire) - there was an incredibly upbeat and UNICEF-loving bird: Mr Stork!

(He was also surprisingly not worn out or sweaty... Or blinking, for that matter!) 

Fruit for the Office couldn't be happier to have donated our office fruit to a charity as worthy as UNICEF and we can't wait to provide running fuel on their behalf again!

#EasterFruitFriday - UNICEF @ Brighton Marathon 2014

Set in the equally picturesque and alternative beach town of Brighton, the pavements were pounded by the worn-out and blistered but proud feet of Brighton Marathon 2014 runners.

For 2014, Fruit For the Office were given the amazing opportunity to support UNICEF and all those who run miles and miles, giving it their all, to run marathons on behalf of UNICEF.

Fruit for the Office donated huge boxes of our favourite, energy replenishing fruits to UNICEF and their marathon runners at Brighton Marathon - which, we assume after 26.2 miles, were scoffed down pretty sharpish!

Our bananas are famous (and also very photogenic!)

At Brighton Marathon, UNICEF set up a right royal spread of delicious banana donations and Fruit for the Office couldn't be happier to have donated our office fruit to such a worthwhile charity.

#EasterFruitFriday - Easter Themed Chocolate Covered Strawberries

Fruit and Easter aren't two words that go together very regularly - and let's face it - it's a much less appealing word association than chocolate and Easter.

However, at Fruit for the Office we believe that fruit can go with absolutely everything so we've taken one of our favourite treats - chocolate covered strawberries - and Easter-fied them!


The Easter Bunny's Favourite: Chocolate in a Carrot Disguise

• Melt a bowl of white chocolate (enough for the amount of strawberries you're using) in a bain marie
• Mix red and yellow food colouring into the melted white chocolate until you have the perfect carrot orange colour
• Dip each strawberry in up to the stem (leave the stems intact for the most convincing carrots!) 
• Once the chocolate covered strawberries are dry, use a skewer to draw carrot-like ridges into each of your treats
• Leave in the fridge to set then serve!

Traditional Easter Egg Hunt: 
Pastel Perfect

• Remove the stems from the strawberries
• Melt a bowl of white chocolate (enough for the amount of strawberries you're using) in a bain marie
• Seperate the melted white chocolate into different bowls and add a small amount of pink, purple, yellow and blue food colourings to each bowl to create pastel colours
• Dip each strawberry into one colour
• Once the chocolate covered strawberries are dry, use a skewer to draw stripes in a different pastel shade onto each strawberry to create a striped easter egg effect!
• Leave in the fridge to set then serve!

A Cracking Chocolate Surprise: Baby Chick

• Remove the stems from the strawberries
• Melt a bowl of white chocolate (enough for the amount of strawberries you're using) in a bain marie
• Seperate the melted white chocolate into four different bowls (two large, two small)
• Leave one of the large bowls white and add yellow food colouring to the second large bowl
• In one of the small bowls, mix red and yellow colouring to create orange and then use black in the second small bowl
• Dip each strawberry fully into the yellow food colouring
• Once the yellow coloured chocolate is dry, dip the strawberry half way up into the plain white chocolate, using a skewer to create the zig zag effect of a cracked egg
• Use the black coloured chocolate with a skewer to add two little eyes to the yellow section of the chocolate
• Then use the orange chocolate with another skewer to create a triangular beak to create a little chick!
• Leave in the fridge to set then serve!
