Top 5 Uses For a Lemon in The Office

We don’t like to pick favourites when it comes to fruit, however from time to time we like to give individual fruits their turn to shine.

Today is the turn of the lemon. We know they may not be an obvious addition to your office fruit delivery, so we've come up with a list of five unusually useful uses for lemons in the office that may just change your mind.

Kick Start The Digestion
The juice of half a lemon in a glass of hot water is the best thing to drink in the morning to get your digestion working at its best. This may be particularly useful for those days when the office cake cart comes rolling round.

Stinky Office Fridge
Once you’ve used the lemon juice for your morning digestive drink you can use it to freshen up the smelly office fridge. Take the used half a lemon, fill it with a tbsp of salt and a tbsp of baking soda and place in the fridge. This will absorb any odours and leave the fridge with a lemony fresh scent.

Soften Those Cuticles
For a lunch time pamper sesh try creating this easy finger soak that will leave your cuticles soft and ready to be shaped. Mix together 2tsp of lemon juice, 1 tsp of honey and half a cup of warm water in a bowl. Soak your fingertips in the mix for around 5 minutes, rinse your hands and you should find your cuticles are easy to push back.

Fly Away
Chasing flies around the office is never fun and very rarely effective. The acidity in lemons makes them a fantastic bug repellent. Placing a few slices of lemon peel on window sills and near doors will deter the critters from entering.

Desk Tidy
With the recent trends for dining al desko, our office desks have become bacteria cafeterias, crawling with unseen nasties. Lemon juice has natural antibacterial properties and will leave a real fresh lemon scent at your workspace (none of that chemically induced lemon smell). So take a damp cloth, dab some lemon juice on it and give your desk a wipe down.

We think these five uses alone firmly carve lemons a permanent place on your weekly office shopping list. Have you got any more unusual uses for lemons in the office?
