Making Art: Roelof Louw

Soul City (Pyramid of Oranges) in construction

When one of our customers placed an order for 18 boxes of oranges, we we're intrigued to say the least. Either there was a serious vitamin C deficient in their office, or they were planning something pretty special. And that they were.

Last weekend the team at Richard Saltoun helped Roelof Louw once again exhibited his famous work, Soul City (Pyramid of Oranges) using non other than Fruit For The Office oranges. This sculpture takes over 6000 of the citrus fruits and arranges them into a perfect pyramid. The piece transforms and adapts throughout the exhibition as visitors are encouraged to interact with the work by helping themselves to a serving of fruit.

The piece evolves as visitors help themselves to the fruit

Fear not, if you missed the exhibition last weekend, you can see the Pyramid of Oranges once again at the David Bowie is exhibition due to take place at the V&A from 23rd March - 11th August.

Be sure to send us a snap of you and your orange!
