Cheats Guide to Getting 5 a Day

We all know we should be eating 5 portions of fruit and veg a day but it can be pretty difficult at times. That’s why we’ve put together this cheats guide to getting your 5 a day. Following some of these tips will make it not only easier, but also much more fun to source and consume some fruit and veg.

Fruit Juice – This little trick is old news, but so effective. Just one 150ml glass of fresh juice a day counts to one of your 5 a day.

Beans on Toast – This meal time favourite actually counts towards your 5 a day, as do any other type of pulses (beans and lentils).

Frozen Grapes – These beauties make tasty alternatives to ice cubes for your summer drinks. They’re also a brilliant low calorie snack and have even been hailed as the dieters answer to ice-cream!

Pasta Sauce – That quick fix dinner of pasta could be better for you than you think. A good pasta sauce that is low in salt can count as one of your 5 a day.

Fondue it – Cheese or chocolate, whatever you fancy. Before you know it you’ll have eaten a bumper portion of fruit or veg (and cheese or chocolate too, but you can’t be good all of the time!).
