#FitFruitFriday - A Motivational Moment

If you find yourself in a bit of a healthy eating slump, do not despair – here are some tips to help keep you going...

Set realistic goals

Not everyone wants to lose weight when they go on a healthy eating plan, but if you do, make sure you keep your goals realistic. Whether you have a stone, or a couple of pounds, to shift, it’s better to take baby-steps. Setting smaller goals for yourself, then achieving them, will keep you more motivated, and more likely to carry on. Plus the closer you get to your target, the happier you will be!

Appreciate the benefits

Eating healthy has many benefits, for example: clearing up your skin; helping you sleep better; giving you more energy; and improving your mood. At work it increases production and motivates staff!
If you feel tempted to cheat, think about how much better you feel, and let that be your motivation to not give in the cravings.

Tell others

Letting other people know about your plans is the perfect way of making sure that you’ll stick to them. It adds a little bit of pressure to keep you going, and you never know, they may end up joining you!

Add in exercise

Starting an exercise regime seems daunting, but it’s easy to add a little more movement into your day. Try using the stairs instead of the lift, and if you get the bus, try getting off one or two stops early, so that you can walk. Going for a walk at lunch time to get some air also helps.
Just adding these small changes to your routine can make a big difference, and may even motivate you to do some more vigorous exercise, such as power walking to the bus stop :)

Treat yourself!

If all else fails, and those tasty treats are just too tempting….do it….treat yourself! Sometimes a treat is just what you need to perk yourself up and get through the diet blues.
But go for a healthy treat – like nuts. Nuts contain the good kind of fat, so even though they have a high calorie content with just a handful - you’re actually being healthy.
Try some Toasted Coconut Cashews for a naughty-yet-healthy snack, or for a spicy alternative, try Honey Roasted Chilli Peanuts.
For a sweeter fruit treat, opt for Dried Mango Slices – beware, they are addictive!
