What are the fruits of love?

With Valentine's Day approaching, we were wondering - what fruits are romantic? Which fruits make you think of love and romance? Are there any fruits that count as aphrodisiacs? Read on to find out!

Apple

Apples have a strong tie to love and temptation in the Western World. The forbidden fruit containing the knowledge of good and evil is often depicted as an apple. It was the fruit poisoned to make a certain young royal feel into a deep sleep, awoken only be true love's kiss. Apples recur in story-lines throughout human civilisation as a symbol of beauty, knowledge, and temptation. Red apples in shape and colour even resemble hearts!

Papaya

The papaya's vibrant colour and luscious texture make it an exciting fruit for any occasion, but it also has medicinal history as a romance aid. Unripe papaya has long been considered an effected aphrodisiac for women, and the seeds are consumed in the belief that they have contraceptive properties.

Avocado

The story goes that Aztec families would keep their daughters shut inside throughout the avocado harvesting season due to the power of the avocado as an aphrodisiac. They are helpful in the male hormone production!

Mango

Indian culture pays great respect to the mango and its romantic prowess- mango leaves are hung above the door to a new bride's home as a fertility charge. Mangoes are believed to increase male virility.

Pomegranate

The Greek story of Persephone famously depicts Persephone becoming tired to Hades through her consumption of a few pomegranate seeds. It's another fruit whose notable colour lends itself to the holiday celebrating love.
